Greenhouse Gas Emissions

With our vision of "Right Way to Live," we integrate sustainability into all our business processes to ensure a livable future. Within the framework of Sabancı Holding's 2050 Net Zero commitment, we at CarrefourSA have reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by approximately 48% and 25%, respectively, compared to 2019. In 2022, we calculated all our Scope 3 emissions and are continuing our efforts to identify actions to reduce these emissions.

Renewable Energy Use

The results highlight the growing importance of our investments in energy efficiency. We are accelerating our rooftop solar energy systems (SES) project as we progress toward our clean energy utilization goals.

Water Consumption

Aware that one of the most significant impacts of climate change will be on water resources, we recognize the value of water and aim to manage and reduce its use effectively across all our operations. In our Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) reporting, which we first prepared in 2020, we achieved an A (Leadership) score in Water Security as of 2023, maintaining our position as one of the leading companies in our sector in this area.

Sustainable Products and Services

Aligned with our parent company Sabancı Holding's 2050 Net Zero commitment, CarrefourSA increases the number of sustainable products and services we offer each year. We are committed to providing environmentally friendly and responsible products to our customers, reflecting our adherence to sustainability principles.

Waste Management

As a food retailer, managing food and packaging waste is one of our top priorities. Our key objectives include taking actions to reduce waste generation in all our stores and warehouses, adopting a Zero Waste approach, and continually improving our recycling and recovery rates. By operating under the principle of proper stock management to minimize food waste, we aim to reintegrate food waste into production processes, thereby preventing economic losses.
