City-Grown; Fresh and Safe Consumption

Sustainability is not just an environmental responsibility for us; it is a holistic approach that also considers economic and social balances. Acting with this understanding, we promote production and consumption models that respect nature while focusing on societal benefit. From this perspective, we launched our “City-Grown; Fresh and Safe Consumption” message through our “Urban Farming” project. 

Under the slogan “City-Grown; Fresh and Safe Consumption,” our Urban Farming project aims not only to support vegetable production but also to promote urban farming for pulses that suit the region’s characteristics and soil structure. 

We started our Urban Farming project by sourcing products from 310 acres of farmland located in Göçbeyli, Kızılcaali, Kadıllı, and Aydos in Istanbul. As stated by our CEO Kutay Kartallıoğlu, we take great pride in setting industry firsts. With our sustainability vision “Right Way To Live,” we have taken our support for agricultural economy and local producers one step further through this project. Under the slogan “City-Grown; Fresh and Safe Consumption,” our Urban Farming project aims not only to support vegetable production but also to promote urban farming for pulses that suit the region’s characteristics and soil structure. Currently, Urban Farming production in the leafy greens category accounts for 5% of our total sales in Istanbul stores.

Through our Urban Farming project, we shortened the farm-to-table journey by sourcing half of the leafy greens in our Istanbul stores from nearby urban areas. Thanks to this, we reduced the carbon emissions resulting from logistics operations for the product groups within the project by approximately 94%.
At the same time, through strong collaborations with local producers, we support economic vitality and lead the increase of sustainable production awareness within our communities. By organizing campaigns to raise awareness about sustainable consumption among our customers, we cultivate conscious consumers and promote habits that respect nature and people.
