As part of CarrefourSA's sustainability efforts, we offer our customers the opportunity to shop with their own cup to reduce plastic packaging waste and prevent food waste. Customers can bring their own cup for grocery shopping and purchase the amount they want or need instead of buying pre-packaged products.
In recent years, environmental pollution has become one of the leading global issues. The main factor contributing to this increasing pollution is plastic use and the amount of waste it generates. As part of the measures taken, Turkey introduced a charge for plastic bags in stores in recent years to combat the significant environmental pollution caused by plastic shopping bags. We develop our sustainability approach under the motto ‘The Right Way to Live’ and offer sustainable alternatives to our customers. With this project, we aim to reduce plastic usage, which has increased due to the pandemic.
With this project, we offer our customers the option to shop for dry food, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, spices, nuts, delicatessen, and bakery products using their own containers or bags. This initiative not only prevents packaging waste but also aims to reduce food waste by allowing consumers to purchase only the amount they need instead of pre-packaged products.
