CarrefourSA Continues Its Investments in E-Charging Stations

CarrefourSA Reaches 40 Charging Stations

CarrefourSA, one of Turkey's leading retailers, continues to rapidly expand its investments in electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Currently providing charging points at 25 of its stores, CarrefourSA aims to offer greater access to EV users, targeting 40 charging points within the next three months.

For 30 years, CarrefourSA has been delivering innovative and sustainable solutions alongside quality and uninterrupted service to its customers. By investing in electric charging stations, CarrefourSA also continues its commitment to environmental sustainability. With 31 charging points across 25 stores, CarrefourSA aims to serve over 20,000 electric vehicle users annually as part of its commitment to creating a greener future under its motto The Right Ones Are at CarrefourSA.

Goal: 40 Stations in 3 Months

CarrefourSA Executive Board Member and Deputy General Manager of Investment, Franchise, and Purchasing, Bulut Batum, commented: “We are seeing a rapid increase in the number of e-charging stations worldwide and across Europe, in line with the rising use of electric vehicles. Many of our customers are also opting for electric cars, and like them, we want to make the right choices for the environment. We support the use of next-generation vehicles by installing charging stations in our parking lots. Our partnership with EnerjiSA, a Sabancı Holding group company, began in 2020, and we have now reached 25 service points. In 2024, we will continue to expand our service network, where customers can pay via a fully online system and enjoy their time in CarrefourSA stores while their cars charge. Our goal is to reach 60 charging stations by the end of the year.”

"We Are Number One in Europe"

In September 2023, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) announced that the number of charging stations in Turkey is increasing rapidly every month. Batum noted, “There are now 8,861 charging points in total, with approximately one fast-charging (DC) point for every 14 electric vehicles in Turkey. This ratio places Turkey first in Europe. However, the limited number of charging points remains an issue for EV users. With these investments, we are addressing this problem in the initial stage. Another issue is the waiting time during vehicle charging. After a 12-13 minute (DC) charge, the vehicle can cover 50 kilometers, while a full charge requires about 45-50 minutes (DC). At CarrefourSA charging stations, car owners can enjoy their time in CarrefourSA stores and dining areas while their vehicles charge."

"We Are Transforming Our Store Parking Lots into Charging Stations"

Batum added, "The world is evolving, and we must collaborate with nature to ensure a sustainable future. Since we started investing in this area in 2020, we have opened 25 charging stations. Over 20,000 vehicles have benefited from these stations for more than 15,000 hours. We have prevented 750 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to planting 2,000 trees. Our investments in transforming our store parking lots into e-charging stations will continue at full speed. With our 'New Generation Sabancı' vision, we will continue to take the right steps, contributing to our customers' environmental awareness."
