Taste of the World: Global Flavors Come Together at CarrefourSA
Flavors from Around the World Came Together at CarrefourSA with the Chamber Corner Collaboration
In the "Taste of the World" event hosted by CarrefourSA, 11 bilateral Chambers of Commerce and Istanbul Trade Offices operating in Turkey showcased their traditional flavors. CarrefourSA CEO Kutay Kartallıoğlu emphasized the unifying power of food, stating, "Food is our common language. Each country represented here today, with its classic dishes, shares a common value, even if they don't speak each other's language. We are delighted to introduce Turkish flavors to the world under CarrefourSA’s hosting."
As a subsidiary of Sabancı Group and Carrefour Group, CarrefourSA, a leading brand in Turkey’s retail sector, brought together various flavors of Turkish and international cuisine at the Fulya CarrefourSA Hypermarket. The "Taste of the World" event, hosted by CarrefourSA for the first time this year, featured the participation of trade offices and bilateral chambers of commerce from the United States, Germany, Austria, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, and New Zealand. At the event, guests experienced the unique flavors prepared by chefs from these 12 countries, including Turkey.
Contributing to the Development of International Trade Relations
Kartallıoğlu emphasized that Turkey is a country of gastronomy and highlighted the importance of hosting such an event for the first time. "Hosting this gathering is very valuable for us as well. In more than 1,000 stores across 59 cities, we serve our customers with nearly 11,000 employees, offering over 40,000 products from both local and global brands under our 'New Generation Supermarket' vision. Today, the products from these 11 countries are also featured on our store shelves. With this gathering, we aim to foster the sharing and learning of culinary cultures, while also strengthening trade relations between countries. Gastro-diplomacy plays a crucial role in international relations. While sharing our culinary culture and flavors at this event, we also support the presentation of national products from other countries under the CarrefourSA umbrella."
Speaking on behalf of the bilateral chambers and offices at the opening, Franck Mereyde, President of the Turkish-French Chamber of Commerce, highlighted that each stand at the event represents a unique culture and a tradition passed down through generations. He thanked CarrefourSA for its generous hospitality and the participating country chefs for their contributions, stating, "This evening, where rich flavors from different cultures come together with guests, also offers our member companies opportunities for international business and market development. Let us celebrate our cultural richness together and strengthen our commercial collaborations."
